HOST CITY
Cartagena de Indias is one of the most important destinations in the Caribbean. Its Historic Center was declared as Historical and Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco in 1985.
This cultural and architectural jewel was the epicenter of the economic activity of the sixteenth century, during the colonial era. Keeping alive a memory of battles, conquests and pirates, Cartagena has a fascinating architectural mix that includes walls, bastions and forts, as well as preserved buildings of colonial and republican style. The beautiful walled historic center contrasts with the modernism of the skyscrapers that rise in the main commercial, residential and hotel area of the city.
